Alex and Eli’s Blog

Alex has been doing very well in his new home. He seemed to know it was his house and his bed and his toys and clothes. He’s been closer with Eli each day. In the photos below you will see how he laid on the couch next to Eli.

Eli has not been doing so well. He got sick the day before we left for Guatemala and he has only gotten worse during the last few weeks. He was taken to an Emergency Room and three or four doctors until they finally admitted him to the children’s hospital Monday. He has been feeling better, but we don’t plan to leave until they fix whatever is wrong.

We finished our travels today. Three days of driving, 400-500 miles a day. We stopped at the Ripleys Smokey Mountain Aquarium and the pictures below are from that. We need to sleep now, i’ve got to work tomorrow.

We went to the Tulsa Zoo with my parents Saturday and below are the photos. i’ve got some others with Alex and Eli’s cousins and will upload those later.

We left Oklahoma this morning and made it to our first stop in Jackson, Tennessee. Tomorrow we plan to drive to Asheville, North Carolina. Lord willing we will be home Wednesday.

We hung out today and took it easy. Eli and Tina had a rough night so we didn’t do much. Alex is doing very well, we have been working with him on learning signs and he’s doing great.

We received some of Alex’s things Wednesday evening from his foster mom along with some nice gifts from our Guatemala family. They have been very good to Alex and to us and we are forever thankful for them.

We had a nice long day Thursday. We left the hotel around noon and got to the airport a few minutes later. Alex loved being so close to the airport so he could watch the planes come in for their landing. He LOVES planes. That made the flight much easier. He liked to taxi, take off, fly and land. He got a little tired in flight, but he did very well. Immigration looked pretty scary, but didn’t end up taking too long. We were to Tina’s parents by about 9:30 p.m.

Right now Alex is with Shari and Tina at the store and i’m taking care of our sick baby. He is getting better now, but Kevin and Shari have had a tough week.

We just figured out that the Marriott number we had was incorrect. If you call the (252) number now, the Marriott number should work.

As you can see in the pictures and videos, Alex is having a pretty good time here. i have almost fully recovered and Tina is still in the bed, fortunately not too many trips to the bathroom. Any time we pull out a camera, Alex needs to have it. So i think you will be seeing more and more of his art each day. Keep watching this post, i’ll update it with video in a little bit.
